Right now, is an especially difficult time for the world and many may be feeling a whole range of different emotions. Although, this is a part of life, there are ways we can deal with emotions, even when this pandemic is over.
1. Anger and Sadness
Feeling angry or sad is not pleasant, and we can often take it out on others, which makes us feel even worse afterwards. I put anger and sadness together, as when writing I realised how similar the methods to stop feeling these emotions are. Often, there is no single way to overcome feeling angry or upset but these steps will help:
- Breathing- I realise that you will have heard this a lot, but taking a few deep breaths is a simple way to calm down.
- Think- Its always important to consider why you are feeling this way.
- Change- Is there anything you can do to change this? Come up with solutions.
- Mindset- If there is nothing that you can physically change, you will still be able to mentally change. Some questions to ask yourself are... Am I overreacting? Is it really that bad? Is it something I can ignore? Is there someone I can talk to?
- Do- If there is something you can change, do it!
2. Feeling Anxious
Feeling anxious is awful! It can be hard to get these emotions to stop! However, if you ever do feel anxious, these steps will help you to overcome your worries.
- Breathing- Again, I do realise that you will have heard this a lot, but taking a few deep breaths is a simple way to calm down.
- Address- Although it may be difficult, you must figure out why you are feeling worried! If it is more than one thing, write it down.
- Solutions- Then, next to every worry, write down the worst possible outcome and the best possible outcome.
- Finding a balance- Find the in-between of your best and worst possible outcomes.
- Stop overthinking- Yes, your situation might not be the best, but trust me, there are worse things! Find the positive and realise that what you were worrying about might not be so bad! After all, there is a way to solve every worry, so stop overthinking and start doing!
Stress can also be solved in the same way as feeling anxious, sometimes!
